13 Sep 2010Do the major beer and lager brewers that brew things like Carlsberg, Kronenbourg, etc. use the sme water to brew their beer as the stuff that comes from our taps? Or is it from a different source or treated in some way?

Most breweries in the world use ordinary tap water, but the water is filtered to remove all chemicals. Then the water is treated to help produce the characteristic of a particular beer.

Some brewers have their own source of water, others will use municipal water but it will be treated before use.

No, they use the water that comes from THEIR taps. That’s why home brewers in the eastern US have to add Burton salts to their water if they want to clone an English ale but have less trouble brewing a good bock.
