SANTA ANA – A man was stabbed when he apparently refused to hand over his beer during an attempted robbery outside a 7-Eleven store, police said.

The incident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. Monday in front of the convenience store at 103 South Harbor Blvd., said Stephen Colon of the Santa Ana Police Department.

Colon said a man and his sister walked out of the store and were approached by two men. One of the men brandished a knife and demanded the victims’ beer and money, he said.

The male victim refused and the attacker stabbed him in the upper body, Colon said. The attackers ran away without taking the beer or money, Colon said.

The victim was taken to a hospital in serious but stable condition, Colon said. The victim’s sister was uninjured, he said.

The attackers were both described as being in their 20s. They were last seen wearing dark clothing.
