What caused the demise of Tusker Premium Lager?

In: FAQ

20 Dec 2010

Tusker Premium Lager in the GREEN bottle (not the BROWN bottle, that is a different style) was one of my all-time favorite beers. The Premium is one of the most thirst-quenching brews ever crafted. Awesome on a hot summer day. Whereas, the brown-bottle ‘standard lager’ is undistinguished swill.

But at some point the Premium simply disappeared from shelves. No distributor can get it for me, and I have talked to them all.

Supposedly, sometime in the last ten years, the Guinness beer company (UK) swept into the African beer market and pushed it out, or there was a war or something– but Tusker Premium is no longer made in Kenya.

Can I get the recipe and have someone home brew it for me? This is what I’ve heard. If so, where can I look for that recipe?

How can Ernest Hemingway’s favorite beer be allowed to die out? Why isn’t someone doing something about this? I’d do anything to get this beer back! Pay any amount! Who do I have to lay or who do I have to kill to get some closure here?

Only a few products can survive for ages IN the volatile market. Except for sentimental reasons ,Tusker Premium Lager cannot be called the best,Its disappearance is solely due to market demand and supply. Too much of the addiction to the brand for sentimental reasons seems to be imprudent.

Tusker Premium Lager is dead !. Long live the BEER !!!!!!!
