tough to buy a beer that he will like the taste of. Micros are good but vary widely in taste.
If he likes lager, try and stay within that style of brew.
Take him out for a treat. Take him to a local micro brewery and have samples. Most places will have a couple lagers, an IPA, pislners, and hopefully stouts; my favorite.
If all else fails, take him out for a steak dinner. Mmmmm.

My favorite variety pack is probably Unibroue’s but their beers are not at all like Yuengling.
Yuengling Lager is a great beer. Leinenkugel has variety packs where some of their beers are similar to Yuengling. Saranac has some good variety packs that would be different but nothing too extreme.

Buy him Ayinger Brau-Weisse.
